Lankarullan uusiokäyttö - Reusing a thread spool

Tyhjiä lankarullia voi käyttää moneen. Ne sopivat vaikka miniatyyripöytien jaloiksi mutta tällä kertaa halusin kokeilla tässä blogista pongaamaani kierrätysvinkkiä.

Lankarullan ylä- ja alareunat on maalattu akryylivärillä, mikä peittää langanvalmistajan nimen. Kuumaliimasin kankaan rullaan ja kiersin vähän muliinilankaan kankaan ympärille. Lopuksi vielä sipaisin hieman ulkokäyttöön tarkoitettua ModPodgea kankaan päälle sään kestävyyttä lisäämään.

Koriste on kiinnitetty repun ulkotaskun vetoketjuun, josta alkuperäinen vedin on hajonnut. Huomenna näkee, miten lankarullakoriste selviää sateesta.

There are many ways to reuse empty thread spools, e.g. for a miniature table's leg but this time I wanted try something that I found in this blog.

I painted the top and the bottom of the spool with acrylic paint to cover the thread manufacturer's name. Then I used hot glue to secure the fabric around the spool and added some emboidery floss around the fabric. I also gave a slight brush of ModPodge for outdoor use around the fabric to improve its weather durability.

This decoration is replacing the broken zipper pull of my backpack's front pocket. I'll find out tomorrow if the decoration will survive the rainy weather.

Uusi peitto - New blanket

Virkattu Dyyni-peitto valmistui. Huom! Peiton nimellä ei ole mitään tekemistä samannimisen kirjan tai elokuvan kanssa. Hankin langat Englannista ennen kuin se erosi EU:sta. Aiemmin olen virkanut tämän aaltokuvioisen peiton ja myös peiton isoäidin nelioistä.

I finished crocheting my Dune blanket. Please note that the name of the blanket has nothing to do with the book or movie by the same name. Previously I have crocheted one Ripple blanket and a throw using grandma squares.
