Pionikassi - Peony-themed bag

Kassin ompelussa ei sinänsä ole mitään uutta eikä ihmeellistä mutta käyttämäni kangas on Tampellan Pioni 1970-luvulta. Tästä kankaasta minulla oli äitini ompelemat verhot huoneessani sillä samaisella vuosikymmenellä. Osa kankaasta on haalistunut mutta osa on vielä ihan priimaa. Kassin sisälle ompelin vielä pienen taskun.

There is really nothing new to sewing yet another bag but this time it is the fabric - it is from the 1970s and originally sewn into curtains by my mother. Some of the fabric is slightly faded by sunlight but there is still much of it that is useable. I also sewed a little pocket inside the bag.

Sashiko-liina - Sashiko cloth

Ensimmäinen sashiko-pistoilla tehty liina on valmis. Koko: 30 cm x 30 cm ja se tulee käyttöön leipäkoriin. Lopputuloksesta näkyy, että en ole juuri ommellut käsin; pistot ovat eri pituisia mutta olen silti tyytyväinen lopputulokseen.

My first sashiko-stitching is ready as a 30 cm x 30 cm cloth that will be used as a cover in a bread basket. I have done very little (if any) sewing by hand and although all my stitches are not exactly of the same length, I am proud to have accomplished this.

Vuosia sitten tein ensimmäisen "apulaisen", jota kutsuin silloin "purkinavaajaksi". Eihän se mitään purkkia tai korkkia yksin avaa mutta antaa hyvin vipuvoimaa tiukkien korkkien ja kansien avaamisessa. Vanha on ollut kovassa käytössä ja jo hieman kulahtanut. Tein kaksi uutta, isomman kotikäyttöön ja pienemmän mukana pidettäväksi juuri pullonkorkkien avaamiseen.

Tähän tarvitaan vain kaksi samankokoista palaa liukuestemattoa, mitkä yhdistetään virkkaamalla ne yläreunasta kiinni toisiinsa.

Years ago I made my first "helper". I then called it a jar opener although it won't open any jar lids by itself but it is a great help with those stubborn lids that are tighly screwed on jars. The first one I made has been in heavy use and it is already pretty worn out and needed a replacement. I made two new ones, the bigger one for home use and the smaller, portable one for water/soda bottle lids. It is small enough to fit into a pocket and even a small handbag.

All you need: two pieces of the anti-slip mat that are attached together by crocheting them.



Virkkasin myös uusia tiskirättejä toisen vohvelikuviolla ja toisen yksinkertaisesti puolipylväillä ja kiinteillä silmukoilla.

I also crocheted much needed new dishcloths, one using the waffle stitch and the other alternating single and half double crochet stitches.
